It could lead to interesting character moments for Clark Gregg, so that works just fine for me. My original thoughts were that he's a clone or an android, but it's probably not that simple. Also, producer Jeph Loeb says they pitched a general 100 episode arc for the show to ABC, so it's not like they're making everything up as they go along.
